Gwich’in Helicopters Ltd. (GHL) provides professional aircraft and flight crews to service oil and gas exploration and development throughout the Gwich’in Settlement Area. With the support and expertise of their partner Great Slave Helicopters Ltd. (GSHL), GHL can offer Gwich’in beneficiaries a chance to train for careers in the helicopter business as pilots, engineers and ground crews. As well, GSHL continues to provide management and operational support to GHL as required by Industry and Transport Canada.
Since GHL began operating in November 2005, they have purchased a hangar at the Inuvik airport and a $1.7 million Eurocopter AS 350 B2 helicopter. These assets combined with immediate access to their partner’s fleet of over 70 light and medium helicopters, puts GHL in a successful position to capitalize on helicopter operations occurring in the Gwich’in Settlement Area.
